Favicons are those cool little images in the tabs at the top of your web browser. They part of branding yourself, setting yourself aside from all the other sites out there, and claiming it as your own little web space. It’s a super easy thing to do that 1) most people never think of adding, or 2) think it’s difficult. It’s not at all.
First Obtain an image. Has to be small. Really, really small….like 16px sqaure! If you want to make your own graphic that’s great! Do so, and then go here ICON-J. Not only can upload .png, .gif, or .jpg files and convert them to .ico (favicon files), but…they’ll host the favicon for free! Some image hosting services don’t allow .ico

2) Paste it just BEFORE the
3) That’s all there is to it! 😀 CLICK SAVE!
Note: Sometimes you have to clear your cache to see the change take effect! You should have a nifty little icon on your browser tab…that’s all you!
If you don’t have graphics software, or don’t want to mess around with it too much…go here to http://www.favicon.cc/ and use their nifty on-site generator to make a quick icon. Not as much control as you’d have with your own graphics software, but hassle free, no sign up, nuthin’. Just play around till you have the design you want. Then download it to your computer. You’ll still have to upload it to a host that accepts .ico’s (above). And follow the same steps to paste it into your html.
Let me know how it works for you!!!!!! 🙂
btw….icon-J has a gallery of pre-made icons that you can browse through and use. You might find something to use and not have to make one at all!
You can animate favicons too … gallery here.
