This quest builds on the journal you started from the Taking Inventory Quest. If you haven’t done that quest – take a look at it, and consider doing it. Or – you’re free to use a journal you already have, or – any blank paper you have lying around. Have a double-page spread in front of you. If you’re using paper – 1 sheet will do, though the larger the better. 1) Draw 3 lines across the page(s), dividing the area into 4 equal sections. Can be vertical, horizontal, diagonal – doesn’t matter. 2) In the first section write: “Acts that make me feel good”. Think of action. Emotional, non-physical things. 3) In the 2nd section write: “Stuff I like to have around me”. Physical, tangible things you can touch. 4) In the 3rd section write: “Ways I show people I love them”. Physical or non-physical 5) In the last section write: “Ways others show me love”. Physical or non-physical 6) Without thinking too much about it (This isn’t a test!), fill in the spaces with simple examples – the first thing that comes to mind – write it down. 7) Keep doing that for each section – till it feels complete. Try to get everything you can think of. NOW THE FUN PART Cut small pieces of paper that fit over the headings above (1-5). Preferably you want to do tape the paper down, so you can flip it back up and see the original heading. However you want to accomplish that. 1) Replace “Stuff that makes me feel good” with “Expectations I’ve set for myself” 2) Replace “Things I like to have around me” with “Stuff I hide behind” 3) Replace “Ways I show others I love them” with “Things I replace love with” 4) Replace “Ways other show me love” with “Expectations I’ve set for others” WTF? This is a big step out of normalicy. Please give yourself some time to adjust to these ideas, before going into defense-mode. The first thing most people want to do is argue the new headings. For instance, if you wrote – “hugging”, or “cooking healthy food” under “Ways I show others I love them” – the new heading won’t be making any sense.
